Vivid Training

Hello,  it's a huge pleasure to meet you!!!

I will try not to make this super boring ;) .... My name is Dana and I'm an NCCA accredited trainer and certified nutritionist.  I train women of all shapes, sizes and ages but I specialize in helping moms ( new and seasoned ) get their bodies back.  Most of my clients are between the ages of 30-70.  Being a mom myself I understand the extra challenges you face when it comes to getting back into pre baby shape!

My Background in Fitness

I started working out at a young age (12!) and have been addicted ever since.  I started training with good old workout videos (remember how awesome Billy Blanks was?).   I loved how amazing I felt after a sweaty workout, both physically and mentally.  Over the years, I've done a lot of different kinds of training, but my favorite has been traditional strength training.  When I was younger, all the girls in the exercise videos would work out with 5 lb dumbbells, and it wasn't until college that I saw what a difference using the heavier weights made on the quality of my workouts and the changes in my body (duh!).  And surprise, I didn't get super muscular and bulky like everyone said!  I do still use lighter weights from time to time because it's good shake up your workouts with a higher rep routine sometimes.

Just like any other human, I do fall off track every now and then and will lose my motivation.  Sometimes I have a month where I'm not super structured with my workouts and diet.  Sometimes my weight fluctuates a bit and I'm okay with that (most of the time) as long as I'm staying within my healthy weight range.  I think of fitness as a lifestyle, and sometimes life gets a little crazy.  Sometimes you have to go on vacation and eat the keylime pie!  The key for me, is knowing that I will not let myself stay off track for too long because I know how great it feels to be diligent.

Am I a nice trainer or a mean trainer?

I'm relatively mean, and I may have you sign a waiver to give me permission to use a taser if deemed necessary. (I'm totally kidding!)

I'm actually very nice and I truly love helping people. Most of the ladies I train have been with me for a long time, many since I started in 2010!  It's great to see someone's body transform, but it's even better to hear how their stress levels or mood swings have decreased since they started training.

I'm a firm believer that it's important to move your body differently and switch up your workouts on a regular basis.  This  not only prevents  boredom, but also keeps your body from having any types of imbalances.

Why do I like working out at home?

I honestly don't have anything against the gym, I just would MUCH rather train at home myself. I want to be able to workout in my pjs if that's what I choose. In all reality, when you go to the gym, you will find the fittest people there using the free weights (dumbbells) anyway.  Most of your best results will come from all of the items that are portable at the gym (dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, physio balls).

What about food?

I'm very much against diet pills and fad diets.  I know that they sound super tempting and a lot of people think they need these things to give their body a "boost".  I honestly struggle with food issues myself big time, and I find that when I'm focusing only on eating healthy, natural foods is when I look and feel my best.   I think if you put too much thought into it or eliminate whole food groups you're more likely to crash and burn.   My theory is to keep things a simple as possible and eat real food, the way we were meant to.  That being said, it's also so important to find a balance, and enjoy foods and meals that are not super healthy from time to time also, so you don't go crazy!  I have a                  that goes over this in a bit more detail.

Feel free to message me anytime if you have any questions!
